Below are some wonderful messages that we have received from our friends who have puppies from Great View Danes. Some of our best friends are past customers and we really appreciate you!
This is my favorite page on my website because it is all that I work for. Happy owners matched with happy dogs!! It is the most rewarding part of raising great danes! I am just as grateful to the new owers as they are to me because we love our danes and are so glad to see that they are loved and cared for so well!
THANK YOU to all who have sent me feedback on how their dogs or puppies are doing. We love every one of you for your wonderful dedication and care you give these magnificent animals! Please continue to keep in touch!

Hi Joan - How are you - Hope we're not bothering you with all these updates. We took Lucca to the Vet on Monday, and he weighed 76 lbs.and he had a clean bill of health. I know he has grown in the past four days too.I think it would be safe to say he is over 80 lbs. We started him in doggy day care and training march 30th,The owners of this center have been in the business for over 30 yrs. They cannot say enough about him, he creates a spectical,(in there own words) everyone wants to know who the owner is and where he comes from.Jude drops him off in the morning and I pick him up at 430. the owner, his name is Pro he is training him personally and tells me how smart this puppy is, now you can say I'm paying him and he has to say that to keep a customer but he also trained Bruno and we kept Bruno there for 5 weeks and over night and he tells me that the differences are tremendous. I think I told you we had his ears cropped, he really is a magnificent dog in every way shape and form and you can ask Jude I'm not one to complement easily. I sent another picture it was taken about 3 weeks ago and you can see this pooch just can't take a bad picture.I think by the way I'm going on you can tell how much we love this big-little boy!!!! If you ever need a reference, or someone is not sure about your dogs don't give them my e-mail, give them my cell phone # 646-996-5365 ill be glad to tell them anything they need to know... or as we say in Brooklyn (I'll straiten them out).
thank you so much............love Rob and Judy

Dear Joan,
There is so much that I would like to say, but I don’t know exactly where to start. Zeus, our little bundle of joy, filled such an empty place in our heart. After losing our Harlequin girl, Harmony one year ago last April, and then our big boy, Onyx this April, (plus losing the world’s most wonderful Mother-in-law in January), we were both feeling so lost. When we lost our Onyx we both thought things would never be the same in our life and vowed to never have another Dane because they left such an empty place in our hearts. Then we found your site and, most of all, found you and your family. Once again, our lives began to take such a wonderful change. Seeing your beautiful “Babies” rekindled a fire in our hearts and we thought, “Why not another Dane?” : )
Our “Little Man” Zeus is such a charmer and so handsome (and yes he does know it : )). His coloring, structure, personality and conformation are so perfect. He has filled our hearts with so much love and happiness, again. Great Danes have no equal and our Zeus is such a “Proud Boy” and spoiled, of course. We will cherish every second of his life and he will have the best life that we can give him (and the next one, too) LOL... A Dane adds a special part to a person’s life and, to us, they are our children. The love and laughs that Zeus gives to us everyday is just so special. Even the time when I had just finished cleaning the house and I felt like crying because I found toilet paper strung down the hallway and all over the living room, Zeus made it alright. All I have to do is to take one look at that face, with Zeus looking back at me with his happy eyes and my heart just melts. Zeus simply makes it all go away.
Each of our Danes had their own special personalities and will always have a special place in our heart, just as our children do. I have a lot weighing on me in my life right now, but I want you to know that having Zeus and knowing you and your family has given me such a different outlook on things. Zeus lifts me up everyday and gives me love and a smile. Right now that’s the best medicine that I could have.
Also, we feel that we have found such a special person in you. You take such pride in your Danes and it shows in every one of them. The love that you have for the breed is wonderful. I just can’t say enough about the love and care that you take with these big Lovable Giants. We Love you and you have become a very special person in my life, I thank you for that. And of course, while I may not know your kids very well, what I do know of them shows me they are such great kids. They have the same love and show the same care for all of those babies. Thank you again and I know we will have a long and lasting friendship. We look forward to meeting your husband one day, as I’m sure that he is as special as you and the children are.
Sincerely,
Lou Ann Yarnall

Hi Joan and Family:
Just wanted to let you know that Athena had her Vet
appointment, yesterday.
Dr. Davis just went on and on about how she had
never seen such wonderful
examples of the Breed. She went on to say that it
is truly amazing that they
all appear to have the same great temperament,
conformation and the breath
taking eyes.
Athena was perfect (of
course) and acted like such a little lady. Dr. Davis
was amazed at how fast
your Danes take up and attach themselves with people.
Dr. Davis said she may
be calling you for a "Snuggle Buddy" of her own. : )
I have attached a
few pictures of Athena for your viewing pleasure. She is
quite the "Little
Ham." When we have a break in the action, I will try to
get some of her and
her "Big Brother", Zeus, together in their "Big
Brother/Little Sister"
shirts.
Have a wonderful day and tell your children that we said,
Hi!

Hi Joan,
Just wanted to send you a few pictures of our
baby. She is adjusting wonderfully. The girls adore her and she cries when
they leave the room. It's so sweet. You did such a great job making this
precious baby. Thank you!
Sincerely,
The Almand Family

Hi Joan,
Hope everything is well with you and your family. I saw the
pictures of some of your new babies, they are gorgeous as always. I'm sure that
you have your hands full with 3 litters all at one time. I really respect what
you are doing to keep the Great Dane breed going with such fine bloodlines. I
am so very satisified with Buddy and would highly recommend your dogs to anyone
that is looking for a nice Dane. I'm sending you some pictures of Buddy so that
you can see what a handsome boy he is growing up to be. You may use them on
your testimonial page if you would like too. He has still not got both ears up
yet but we are still working on it. His ears are cropped with the longest crop
so I know that it will take a little more time so I will have to be patient for
a little longer. Ginger has the same crop and she was almost a year old before
hers stood completely, but they stand beautifully now and I know that Buddy's
will too in time. He has gotten so big, seems I can see him growing everyday.
He is weighing around 130 lbs. now. It probably would be safe to say that he
will be close to 200 lbs. when he is full grown. He is one of the sweetiest
most loving Danes I have ever owned and has a great temperment that just makes
him perfect. We absolutey love him so much, he has added so much to our family
that I couldn't even imagine what it would be like not to have him. I am so
glad that I ran across your website that day as you have given me such a joy in
my life to own a magnificent wonderful Dane like Buddy. THANK YOU AGAIN VERY
MUCH!!!
Sincerely,
Shannon

Hi Joan,
This is Allison Sams from Ohio. My husband and I bought a dane
from you back in March of 2009 that we named Brutus. Can you tell we are
Buckeye fans?
I just wanted to say thanks for how smooth the entire
process went. Everything definitely exceeded our expectations. What a
wonderful addition Brutus has made to our family. His personality is for sure
one of a kind and his tempermant is amazing. We will continue to recommend you
to all of the future dane owners. Thanks again and we will keep you
updated.

Hello Joan!
I hope all is well with you! I just wanted to let you know about Bentley's progress. We have him in obedience classes.... he has successfully completed the Basic level and has almost completed Intermediate and then we are going to continue on to advance. The obedience trainer is so impressed with his intelligence and is trying to get us to start Rally. This past weekend he was awarded AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy and AKC Good Citizen Award...we are very proud of him...he is soo smart. Heis so well behaved we can leave him loose in house while we go out without any incidents. I have included some pics. He is getting quite big (he now weighs 110lbs). On a funny note, we cannot keep him out of our pool. He absolutely loves to swim!

Hello Joan,
Hard to believe but Mya is one year old today..........Time does fly by.
All is well here and hope the best for you and your family on this holiday weekend. Just want to thank you again for this Dane we got from you. She is very bright, great with the grandchildren and has taken over what used to be my couch.
I do not know if you have had many inquiries from Connecticut but I have given your website to many people at the dog park after they see the size of this Harlequin. She is very solid compared to the other danes at the park and at one year is bigger than two adult females that frequent the park. She is 33 inches at the shoulder and 130 pounds right now.
Feel free to use my letter or piks if you want and you will always have a great reference here if I am ever called upon for one.
Included a few piks.
Bye for now,
Happy Easter

Thanks again for meeting us so we could pick her up. She did great on they way home. We are very a happy with her.

Hi Joan,
My husband Chad and I purchased a puppy from
you last year from the litter born on 4/1/08. We named him Bo and he is doing
wonderful. He weighed in at his 1 year check up at 115 lbs and still has some
growing to do. We did send Bo to obedience training but he still lets his
rambunctious puppy side out quite often! He is such a sweet boy and absolutely
beautiful. We had his ears cropped by West Clay Animal Hospital as you
recommended and they did a great job.
Hope you enjoy the attached
pictures!

Hello Joan,
We are sending you enclosed a few pictures of our new baby girl which we named "Velvet".
We are a bit late getting back to you but we had a problem with our computer and now everything is back to normal.
First of all we would like to thank you for giving us the opportunity to buy such a nice girl which we are very proud to add to our family.
Second, this is our 5th Great Dane and she is the most easiest one. For her age she came trained in a lot of ways. She goes on the paper and when we go to give her a treat she sits down and waits.
Maximus, our Blue dane is the happiest of all. He now has someone to play with because Harley, our Brindle dane is much older.
You can see in the pictures that all of them are best buddies already. The pictures without our other danes were taken the same night we came home with Velvet and the ones with our other danes were taken the next day.
We would also like to thank you for staying in contact with us when the flight was delayed overnight.
We also had a friend who works for the airline which kept us informed of the exact departure from Cleveland and exact arrival in Toronto. We saw the plane land.
Hope to hear from you in the very near future and we would be more than happy to recommend you to future buyers.
We will keep you posted on her progress. She already went to the vet here and she is in perfect health.
Again, thank you for everything and for the lovery girl.
Sincerely,
Danielle Gauthier & Pierre Guénette

I just want to Thank You for giving me this Wonderful Opportunity to raise this Beautiful Boy. For entrusting in me to give him a Safe and Healthy home. I highly respect your work. You are a Wonderful Person and Breeder and the love for your Danes is so apparent. Thank You for all of your advise and guidance throughout this past year. And I wish you the Greatest Success with the showing of your lines. I find it a privilege to work with such a great person as you are. I will continue to strive to produce the best quality Danes that I can. And look forward to watching and learning from you. I also want to Thank You for how Healthy and well adjusted Tuvock was when he came here. He fit in the first day. Now he thinks he owns the place. He sleeps with me every night. He is the only male in the house with the girls and he loves the puppies. He just lays there and watches them and will lick them when they come close. He is a lover boy. I would truly like to see him in the Show Ring. I just know that he would do well..... Thank You for making my Dream Dane come True.
I look forward to working with you in the future. If your looking for a Healthy, Clean, Well adjusted and socialized puppy you can't go wrong with Joan and her puppies. She truly cares about their well being and where they are placed. It's been truly an honor for me.

Hello Joan,
Hope this finds you and your family doing well - just wanted to send an update. Diamond is doing great... she is actually sleeping at my feet on the bed as I type this to you. She is adjusting to her new home really well. She plays often with our lab Harvey and they seem to be adjusting to each other really good- we're seeing good signs- tails are up and wagging, playful wrestling, and finally submissive bellies to each other quite recently.
We have started calling her Daisy Diamond - our son started it and it's stuck... she wags her tail, so she seems pretty agreeable! We are just in love with her, her disposition is just lovely. She's not shy which is good, and watching her around the house just brings a smile to my face, she is at my side when I cook, smelling all the different foods. she follows our son David around the house, and is just so comfy either on the couch or in the bed. I would have to imagine going from a farm life to a quieter home life is a change, but she seems to be adjusting well. I have been back to work part time and she is doing well in the house 4-6 hours at a time.
I took her to our vet yesterday, and got a good check up. We are discussing having her spayed, so we may consider this sometime in the future here. I brought her in to meet our vet so we could get a record going, and he could get to know her... we didn't do any vac's because you mentioned her rabies was current, though I am wondering how recent her distemper was? The vet asked if she had been on any type of hormone therapy recently - I think he might factor this into when he recommends having her spayed should we decide to.
I have a photo on my cell I will email to you after I send this.
Thanks again, Joan. We feel very lucky to have "Daisy Diamond" with us. She is just precious!

Hi Joan,
Just wanted to let you know that my baby boy is doing fine. We named him Buddy and he is adjusting very well. Ginger loves him and he loves her but he doesn't care to much for her tring to mother him, I guess he thinks he is to big for that but she still does it anyway. He is going to get his ears cropped tomorrow. He is doing pretty good with his housebreaking but he gets confused alot because this is such a big house, but he is very smart so I know that it want take long to break him. He has such a sweet personality and we love him so much, he has already gotten very attached to us as we have to him also. (Already Spoiled) but that is a good thing, we can't help it because he is so loving. Thank you very much Joan we are completely satisified with him, he is everything that we wanted in another dane pup and more...
Thanks Again,
Shannon

Joan,
How are you doing? The new litter is just the cutest, so tempting to get another Obie puppy. Ranger is so mellow and loving. And of course, our little Walker is just a hoot. They are so happy together and we love having them.
At night, Ranger goes to bed in his crate about 1/2 hour before Walker. He gets up, comes to my chair, gives me a kiss and goes to his crate. Walker, of course being the oldest, likes to stay up later. If we let him do that, then he is quiet in his crate the rest of the night.
Here are some more pictures, about 3 months out of date but still sooo cute.
Thanks,
Barb

HI Joan!
Vasily has a very good stance. Also, when he trots, he has the perfect dane gait. His head is up, chest high, and his gait has NEVER been sloppy. All feet step evenly and lightly and he prances beautifully. His body doesn't even bounce or drop when he moves.
His ears were done by Dr. Cunio at the Sullivan Tri-County Veterinary Clinic. He loves danes and has own strict views about who should own danes (if you ask). I have been taking my danes there for their ears for years. He always compliments me on the way they look and the care we give. He is kind of partial to the breed.
Actually, I gave a girl who works there your e-mail address. When the boys were in to get their ears done, she had her husband to come in and look at Vasily. She has always wanted a blue and her husband had never seen one. So I wondered if she contacted you or not.
Will try to get pics of Uri soon.

Joan, Hope all is going well. There are days I would just like to come to the country to visit. If you ever want to see Hilda in person, just let me know. Bill, who said we didn't need another dog, is just in love with her. He goes on and on about what a great dog she is ... she is so sweet and just wants to be loved. She has the Dane lean down pat. We know you have done a great job with your breeding program. Every possible concern the vet has you have overcome. She hears well even though she has blue eyes. He keeps asking how big her parents are. We've described your facilities to him, and he seems impressed. It's impossible to get a good picture of her, because she just won't hold still. But below are a few of our efforts. At four months, she is 50 pounds. One question I have is how do you distinguish between a merle and a harlequin? On one visit the vet said she looks more merle, but later he said she looks more like a harlequin. We think she's beautiful, so who cares. Thanks, Barbara
Joan,
I have attached what pictures we have. They move around too much to get a good picture!
These puppies (Walker and Texas Ranger) are such good puppies. As I said in our phone call, I have had Danes for almost twenty years and this is the first time I went to a professional breeder. The expense is well worth it. While all my previous danes, 5 in all, were great dogs, good temperment, there is a difference with these two. They just have that extra spark - intelligience, demeanor, whatever. We absolutely adore them. It is so much fun to see their different personalities emerge. Walker is a bit of a Momma's boy and Ranger is more independent. But Ranger is more willing to settle down when he is tired and Walker just has to keep moving.
It will be 4 weeks on Monday (June 30th) that we have had them and they are already crate broken, sit, come when called (mostly) and understand what treats are for. We have started with leash breaking and down.
Thanks,
Barb

Great Danes have been members of my family for many years. Several months after the loss of my wonderful Dane, Dutchess, I felt ready to search for my new puppy. After calling several breeders, I contacted Joan Olson. She had puppies at the time and invited us to their farm to meet the dogs and to spend time with the babies. Nathan and Joan were both so understanding about my loss and my need to find a very special puppy to join our family. The Olson's dog facilities were clean and spacious, and their dogs were very friendly and willing for us to handle their puppies. Because I had to wait for the puppy to get old enough to come home with me, the Olsen's offered to let me return and spend as much time as I needed to get to know the puppies. Our puppy, Annie, is growing rapidly, learning quickly, and is obviously one of the smartest and most loving pups that I've encountered. My heartfelt thanks to the Olsen family for making this such a wonderful experience and providing us with our newest family member, Annie.

Rebecca and Oreo's Story
Well here we go. My name is Rebecca and my dog is Oreo Double Stuff. I am very lucky to have her. I looked for a long time before I found Joan and her family and her wonderful Great Danes. I live in Georgia and right down the road from me is a breeder with Great Danes but there was just something about them that kept me looking. To let you know a little about myself, I am 39 and was a workaholic who didn't know what to do if I wasn't away from home 80 hours a week doing for others. My whole life has been to be the back bone and the foundation for my family and my job. Well we all have the potential to be brought to our knees when life deals us a new hand, hence my new life and Oreo.
I have been diagnosed with Lupus, inflammatory arthritis, toxic fatigue, and a few other things I have trouble spelling. Well last April 2005, I was rushed to the hospital with what the doctors thought was a stroke. No such luck, well I wouldn't say that, I am very lucky, because I found Joan, Oreo and a new reason for life. It turns out I have swelling on my brain that now causes me to need assistance when I walk and drive, get up and down and sometimes just to face the day.
My mind immediately went in to overdrive about the fact I didn't want to bother anyone with my condition and I wasn't going to admit there was anything wrong with me. So the research begun for my new life, so I wouldn't "inconvenience anyone". So now back to my story of Joan and Oreo.
For three years I worked for a school that trained dogs and I watched the joy we brought people every time their puppies and dogs learned something new. Well I figured if I could train dogs to make others happy I could train one to help me. The list for a service dog is years long and that is only, if ever, your name comes up on the list. So I decided to find and train my own service dog.
Then the decision what type of dog would I use. Since I was a little girl I have wanted a Great Dane so I stared looking. I looked for weeks, at hundreds of puppies and then there they were, Joan and her family and a brand new litter of puppies. I looked and I stared and I smiled until I finally decided I had found her, the harlequin one, with the beautiful, sky blue eyes. HA! Well needless to say everything happens for a reason. By the time I chose my puppy it was sold. The only puppy left was the one I thought looked sad and pitiful. It was my Oreo. Life has funny little twists it has always been said we don't pick our companions, they pick us.
I received Oreo from Joan on the day she turned 8 weeks old. The very next day we had our first visit to the vet. She was given a clean bill of health and the go ahead to start her puppy training at 9 weeks. She has fast become a favorite at the vets and we go to see them just to keep up our progress with our weight and growth now that we are through with our puppy shots. She is doing beautifully.
We started with basic obedience at Pets Mart to socialize with other animals and we passed with flying colors. Everyone loves Oreo. I think Joan and her family picked a wonderful started name for her and it just kind of stuck, my husband added double stuff. I work with her as much as I can on my good days but we also have another professional trainer friend named Able that is helping us as we go. We just received our service dog in training vest and we now go to stores and restaurant together. It is an all day job if we have our, "ask to pet me" I'm friendly patch on.
Having Oreo has made me feel needed again; she gives me a reason to get up each day. Without her I would lie in bed and feel sorry for myself. I felt my children were grown, my job moved on without me and my husband now has nothing but pity for me, you know how our minds can play tricks on us, but with Oreo I have a reason to face each day with a new challenge and a new purpose. So because of Joan and her love for the breed and her loyalty to helping others find great companions I now have what every person needs, a life with a purpose.
By the way my grand children thinks Grams has a cool dog. And I now have a new grand child on the way due in September. So more news, on Oreo, and my new family as it becomes available.
Many Thanks from our Hearts to Yours
Rebecca Whitfield

We really think our Danes are beautiful!!! No disrespect to owners of other breeds but; Danes in general and for sure our greatviewdanes are very calm, lovable and conversant. They are forgiving and have a strong self esteem; they are aware of what is going on and how they fit in. We are country folk and have plenty of room for our dogs to motivate but they do get to come inside and stay in the house some at night especially when it is cold. Opal and Irene know when they have to mind and will stay where they are supposed to when told, we are still working with Jake.
Our dealings with Joan and greatviewdanes could not have been better. Joan takes care of all the details and answers all the questions. In any dealing there has to be some trust. We have no problem referring anyone to greatviewdanes because our trust and faith in them is very strong.
Paula and Rick Nickelson
We had owned a male Great Dane for two years when we decided to look into getting another one. We fell in love with the breed right away and will probably never have any thing different. We found Joan's ad for puppies and called her right away!
We were invited to come out to see them even though they were only four weeks old. When we got there we were greeted by some of the Danes who were more than happy to show us around!!! When we were shown the puppies you could tell these guys were given the "royal treatment" and that they were very loved. Mommy was very happy to show off her gorgeous puppies! We had already chosen our puppy, Dutchess, from her photo and fell in love the moment she was handed to us!
It was a long wait until she was ready to come home. Joan was so patient with us and even allowed us to meet her at the vet's office for the puppy checkups!!! Two vets gave the puppies excellent checkups and spoke very highly of Joan and her dogs.
Needless to say Dutchess has been a great addition to our home. She makes us laugh everyday and at a year old is still the baby. She thinks she is a lap dog and will crawl right up on our lap and nuzzle her head in for an ear rub. She was a breeze to train and is very well behaved. She is very healthy and is still growing. She has great muscle tone ( she has always been more stocky than her older brother Duke) and the vet says her bones and hips look good.
Joan is a great person to do business with and truly loves these puppies. She still keeps in touch and checks on Dutchess!! You can email us at lisacastro77@hotmail.com with any questions you have.
Thank you so much Joan (and family) for all the hospitality. I bought a great dane from the Olson's awhile back. Unfortunate things have happened in my life and I just couldn't keep my baby. I called up Joan and asked for her help. She and her family took my puppy back for me and provided her with the love and attention I couldn't at that time. She even went out of her way to find Nika (my great dane) a very loving home. I would recommend her if anyone is in need of a well raised great dane pup. If I am ever in a situation were I can have a great dane again, Joan will be the first and only one I will call. Thanks again Joan for everything you have done for me. Good Luck with your Bull Mastiffs also.

Has been a fun filled week. Dozer has met my nephew and kids, our sons and their kids, my sister, mom and a brother. They can't believe how calm he is and of course beautiful! Our daughter and 3 kids are coming Thursday and staying till Sunday. Two boys 6 and 7 and a girl 11. Will be lots of fun! We are so thrilled to have Dozer!
Enjoy the pictures!

Hi Joan,
I wanted to write to tell you that our 'BIG' little buddy is doing great! We've decided to name him Titan. He is officially a celebrity around our little town. Everyone who meets him falls in love with him. He loves people, he's made puppy friends on our block and the kids in the neighbourhood are crazy about him. People have even stopped to take pictures of him on our walks. I've been training him since he's been at his new home and has become a little angel. He listens on leash, off leash and obeys all his commands correctly. I also had his ears cropped and it was a complete success.
I can never thank you enough for him, he is the absolute perfect addition to our family and we'll always appreciate what you've done by helping him find his new home here with us.
I'll keep in touch through the year to show you how much he's growing.

Joan,
Mylee is so gentle with the kids. They're constantly wanting to take naps with her and kiss and love on her. She is very gentle and just so gently licks them. At times it is like having another toddler. She is pretty much house broken. I will send pictures soon. Again thank you for our wonderful addition to the Jones family.
