Spotless can HEAR AND SEE!!  He was the last to get his eyes open so I guess he must have been a couple days later getting his ears open too!

I was away at a dog show November 8th and 9th.  Nathan stayed home to help Sasha with her delivery.  Chloe and Oscar's daughter "Willow" received first place in her 18 month and under class and then received Reserve Winners Bitch!  We are very proud of our girl!! She had her 12 month birthday today and gave us a very good day!! Pictures are below!

Willow received first place in her puppy class again at the Fayettville show on December 7th!  Good job Willow!

NOW THAT'S A GOOD MAMA!!! YAY SASSY!!!  The European males bred to our American girls are producing size and bone structures beyond our expectation! 

 VERY IMPORTANT FEEDING, EXERCISE AND SUPPLEMENT INFORMATION BELOW:

1. NEVER GIVE YOUR DANE CALCIUM SUPPLEMENTS WHEN HE OR SHE IS GROWING.  THIS IS VERY RARELY NECESSARY AND CAN CAUSE SOME VERY BAD GROWTH PROBLEMS WITH THEIR JOINTS.

2. ALWAYS FEED YOUR GROWING DANE A RECOMMENDED FEED FROM THE BREEDER OR EXPERIENCED VET OF GIANT BREEDS.  TOO MUCH PROTEIN WHILE AT A YOUNG AGE CAN CAUSE YOUR DANE PUPPY TO HAVE SEVERE GROWTH ISSUES.  MAJOR THINGS TO WATCH FOR WHEN CHOOSING AN APPROPRIATE FOOD ARE:  Make sure that the first ingredient is a quality meat, not a meat by product or grain. A common first ingredient in some dog foods is ground yellow corn, found in Science Diet and Iams dog foods. This is not recommended for great danes.  Use a premium dog food with meat as the main ingredient and keep the protein around 24% and fat content around 14%. This may be adjusted for rapid growth periods as well as the amt. fed.  Iams has been documented to cause Wobbler's Syndrom in dogs.

3. THE FOLLOWING LINK IS FOR A SUPPLEMENT CALLED ARTHOGEN WHICH HAS BEEN VERY HELPFUL FOR GROWING PUPPIES AND OLDER DOGS.  CLICK ON THAT LINK TO FIND OUT MORE INFORMATION AND WHERE TO PURCHASE THIS PRODUCT.

 4. DO NOT OVER EXERCISE YOUR DANE PUPPY! They should be allowed to play in a safe environment at least three times per day and not allowed to run excessively or make sharp turns or stops with other dogs. It is very important to not let your baby dane play with other dogs roughly as they can be seriously injured before you know it.  Don't allow them to jump off of furniture or out of vehicles!!

5. TUG OF WAR is a major NO NO  with your dane puppy as it can damage their delicate neck vertebrae and cause Wobbler's Syndrom.

These are just a few basic guidlines for you to follow when raising a baby dane, but I am always willing to answer any questions you might have regarding this breed. If I don't know the answer, I will find someone who does!  Even if you don't buy a pup from us, if you have a question, I will be happy to help in any way I can.

We began raising AKC registered Great Danes out of a deep admiration and love of this noble breed. We know you will be impressed by their extreme loyalty and devotion to their families. They will hardly leave your side while out walking with you, when they could be running off on their own adventures. They prefer to stay at their master's side, content to walk at your pace. We found the saying "once you own a Dane, you'll always own a Dane" to be a very accurate description of the impression they leave on their owners.

We raise a few litters of pet and show quality, very well socialized Dane puppies each year. We have Blues, Blacks, Harlequins, and Mantles.  All of our puppies are guaranteed against congenital defects for 2 years. We believe in taking optimum care of our animals and keep them on a regular worming and vaccination schedule. Our puppies are wormed for intestinal parasites at 2, 4, 5, 6, and 8 weeks of age, plus we use heartworm, giardia and coccidia prevention. Dew claws are removed when the puppies are 2 days old.

We are also involved in Great Dane rescue and have helped several older dogs find great, loving homes. Sometimes people have to relocate or circumstances in their lives change and they are forced to give up their beloved companion. We provide foster care until a suitable home can be found for their Dane.

The most rewarding part of raising Great Danes is to see the happiness each puppy brings to its new family. Having these families keep in touch over the years, and being able to follow the lives of these little puppies that we helped bring into the world, is what makes it all worthwhile. Many of our best friends started out as customers looking for that perfect family dog! We are very lucky to be able to experience the joy this brings!
